Easter/Spring Pics

Even though family Easter pictures were a bust (see previous post), I thought I would try to get some fun spring shots of the kids altogether. I'll let you judge from the sequence below as to how successful I was.

Eden donning the dress she wore on Easter Sunday, along with her ever present smile.

Loved the shoes, and so did Eden. I'd say she loved them a little too much.

Lincoln is showing off his loot from the Easter bunny, though not quite prepared for the camera flash that early in the morning.

I really debated as to whether or not I was going to even give the kids Easter baskets this year. Not because they didn't deserve them, but I was wanting to put more of a spiritual focus on Easter instead of it being all about the candy. It's funny, but they weren't even expecting them as we hadn't talked much about the Easter bunny. As you can see, I caved in and sort of compromised. I figured I could do less candy and include some activities and books. I'm still figuring out what our traditions will be, but I think they will include the baskets.

Our primary presidency did an amazing activity with the kids the Saturday before Easter at the church. Max was really looking forward to it and kept mentioning it all week. The theme was "Building my Eternal Family" thus the construction hats. They divided the children into two groups. Max and Lincoln put together a lesson for family home evening. The lesson was all about what makes us a special person in our family. We used the lesson that following Monday and the boys loved it, especially when we ended by watching old family videos. In the second activity the children had to follow cut-out foot prints and clues to find puzzle pieces throughout the building. Each puzzle piece and clue related to things we can do to have an eternal family. Lincoln is proudly holding up is completed puzzle. He had a great time searching for the puzzle pieces. The last, and most anticipated activity was the Easter egg hunt. They held it indoors because it was raining and the kids had a great time loading up their baskets. This time I kept a careful eye on Max so as not to have a repeat of last year when he came away with a basket overflowing with eggs.

  1. So fun! I love the pictures of Eden in her blessing dress. I can relate to the family pictures. It is impossible to get all kids happy, smiling, and looking at the camera at the same time. Welcome to blogging! -Deanna

  2. Again I laughed all the way through your last two posts. I'm so glad to hear your reality is not all sugar and spice like so many blogging mommies make it sound. I am with you on the entertaining- I decided right now it's just too stressful and makes me too ornery to entertain very often while the kids are young.
As for Easter, we've decided the Easter Bunny visits on Saturday and he doesn't leave any candy (they get enough from grandparents), only a few Easter books or activities they can do in sacrament meeting. Then we can enjoy Easter Sunday with an animated easter movie, books, and visits with fam.

  3. Holy cow your kids are cute!!

Now that our first kid is on the horizon Darin and I have started wondering if we are really going to have to DO stuff for the holidays. You know, like having a tree at Christmas instead of visiting other people's trees. Easter baskets? Ugh. Am I going to want to do this stuff naturally? Our poor future kids...

  7. Well hello there cousin. I was reading my mom's comments and noticed that you had caved and joined the blogging world. I am so glad. I think you write beautifully. This blogging thing really is a good idea. As you stated it is sad that we were all so much a part of each other's lives as children and young adults, but only see each other once or twice a year now. Reading your comments on the family made me cry. I'm not talking a tear or two, but a whole slew of them (I may be the only Stott girl who is a real blubber head. I cry at everything). Those moments of my childhood spent in companionship with my cousins are some of the fondest of all. We had such a great time. So many memories of East Canyon, hiking in southern Utah, sledding in the gravel pit.....I could go on and on. I keep hoping my kids have that. We will see. I admire you all so much. Thank you for the beautiful post. My email address is chandeee@msn.com email me your email address and I will invite you to my blog.
