Seriously though, I do love all the fanfare and fun surrounding the holiday and it's a great way to spend time together. Here are just a few pics highlighting some of the fun we had this past Halloween.
We set out to find the perfect pumpkin to make a Jack-o-Lantern at a church not far from our home. The church uses the profits to benefit local charities.
Our friends the Whitakers throw a fabulous Halloween party each October. They put up creative and fun decorations all throughout their yard and home. It's been a fun tradition for our family to attend.
Max's kindergarten class had games and goodies throughout the morning and then participated with the rest of the school in a costume parade and carnival. Good times.
My favorite activity during Halloween is the trunk or treat we have at our church. The activities committee always does a great job with making it a family fun tradition. We started out with a chili dinner, then a carnival that included a fishing pond, face painting, doughnut eating, spooky story tellings and costume parade. We then headed out to the parking lot where cars were decorated with spider webs, jack-o-lanterns and other Halloween spooks. The kids were loaded up with candy and ready to crash by the time we get home. Lincoln, our little sweet tooth was in pure heaven.
Isn't this the greatest costume?! Amazing what you can find on ebay.
It's been a tradition the past couple of years to go trick-or-treating with our dear friends the Huishes. They have a great neighborhood to walk around and some of the homes go all out to decorate. The weather was perfect, nice and comfortable to walk around in and Herb, Jeremy and I enjoyed leisurely walking and talking while the ever-conscience Tisha corraled the kids and kept us moving.
I love the wary look on Lincoln's face in this photo. The eyes on the head center piece actually move and Lincoln, understandably was a bit disconcerted.
Lincoln makes a new friend.
What you don't see in this picture is the parents in the background chanting after each door, "Remember to say thank you!"
