There are an abundance of sites and places to explore in the DC area. A new one to our family is Brookeside Gardens in Maryland. It is a beatiful nature reserve with cultivated gardens containing plants from around the world. The landscaping is picturesque with rolling fields, ponds and gardens scattered throughout. The kids enjoyed playing in the children's garden and observed butterflies fluttering around them in the butterfly house. It is a nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and next time I will take a good novel to read.
